Description |
Belt: Part of woman's Icelandic folkcostume, "Upphlutur": velvet elastic; black. Wide band of elasticized velvet w/ four gold filigree ornaments sewn on. Belt buckle is two gold filigree circles w/ interlocking flower pattern. Gold ornamentation and belt are from a later period of time than the rest of the costume; Agnes Thorstunson Sand was given the gold ornamentation and belt with the original costume when she emigrated to America in 1919. |
